For all of us there are times when we experience difficulties that can be helped by counselling. These may include:

  • anxiety and stress
  • feeling low
  • low self-esteem
  • sexual identity/gender issues
  • unhappy relationships
  • bereavement and loss (e.g. redundancy)
  • feeling lonely and isolated
  • work related problems, e.g. harassment, bullying
  • suicidal thoughts/feelings
  • trauma, e.g. sexual abuse
  • destructive patterns of behaviour including phobias, obsessions, eating disorders, self-harm
  • physical symptoms that might have an emotional basis
  • spirituality (loss of faith)

It may be that you have no pressing difficulties but seek greater personal knowledge and wish to develop your potential. Counselling can be of great benefit in this.

It should be remembered that counselling is not a magic cure. At times it is hard going. This is a fairly common experience. However, through the experience you might well gain an insight into your patterns of behaviour that cause you difficulties.
